Avant de ce mettre dans la Pop Feist été une diva Punk adolescente

Après quelques année elle fait un detour a Berlin et partage un apartement avec sa copine : electroclash Peaches .

cap sur Paris avec son vieux pote le pianiste barré Chilly Gonzales.

Rapidement, le premier extrait "Mushaboom" devient un tube et la voix de Feist, tour à tour douce et caressante, passe définitivement les frontières (disque d'or en France, platine au Canada), flattant les oreilles du grand public des deux côtés de l'Atlantique.

Trente-trois mois de concerts et autant de festivals plus tard sur trois continents, il est temps pour Feist de penser à retourner en studio.

C'est à La Frette-Sur-Seine, un charmant village du Val-d'Oise situé à une vingtaine de kilomètre de Paris, qu'elle décide finalement de s'installer. Dans un manoir vieux de 200 ans, le groupe de tournée se réunit (Julian Brown, Bryden Baird et Jess Baird), rejoint par Gonzales, Mocky, Renaud Létang et Jamie Lidell. Rapidement, la bâtisse s'orne d'un piano, d'un vibraphone, d'orgues, de guitares et d'amplis. Contre les vitraux, deux batteries sont installées et des micros dispersés un peu partout sur le parquet ciré.

ils utilisent alors leur environnement comme matière sonore : un chant d'oiseau, un aboiement de chien, le passage d'une voiture ou d'un avion... Forts de leur complicité et de leur expérience sur scène, Feist et son équipe travaillent vite. En deux semaines, l'affaire est bouclée : The Reminder est né.
